Minimum requirement for carrier and container for transporting milk
The Dairy Industry Act, cap 262 stipulated the minimum requirement for carrier and container for transporting milk. The minimum requirements for a container used to transport milk should be a rigid body, closed and operated in such a way that milk is completely protected from direct sunlight, dust and any other possible source of contamination, the inner surface of the container should be made of stainless steel or aluminium alloy or any suitable airtight and pilfer-proof food grade, and scratch proof plastic container, non-absorbent, and upon which the milk has no action and the surface and joints shall have a smooth, corrosion resistant and easily washable surface . In case where a container is a tanker the sides of the manhole and the inner lid shall be made of stainless steel, smooth, easily washable, air tight and fitted with a valve to prevent excessively high or low pressures and the tanker to be provided with a stainless steel compartment to hold the pipe, pump and any other equipment used to fill or empty the tanker; the said compartment shall be protected against dust and extreme temperature changes.
Application for Milk Carriers and Containers permit
Tanzania Dairy Board issue permit to carrier and containers to transport milk which fulfils the stated minimum requirement. The procedure for issues the permit require an applicant to fill and submit the Application Form to the Registrar.
